Mark West
Mark West studied at Cal State Fullerton, graduating with a communications
degree, emphasis in film. At his instructors urging ("you'll never get a
job in this business unless you know somebody and if you're down here in
Fullerton, odds are you don't know anybody") he didn't pursue work in
Hollywood. Several years after graduating, he landed a job at NBC and
worked as a page, and subsequently a cameraman.
In between seating tourists at the Carson show and running Wyoming Films, he
toiled at various positions in the entertainment business: PA, location
scout, art department, electrician, PA, grip, AD, PA, production manager,
PA, Producer, acquiring a well-rounded understanding of the business.
He has
worked on hundreds of commercials (Pepsi with Madonna!), movies (Ninja
Academy!) Infomercials (RIPP training vest w/ Bo Jackson!), and other stuff
even more boring than what's already been mentioned here.
He took over Wyoming Films (whom he had been freelance producing for) when
the original owners decided to close-up shop and move to Wyoming. Besides
running Wyoming Films and producing commercials, he is currently developing/
co-writing, directing, and shooting a TV pilot ("Food for Thought"), writing
a documentary on Korean martial arts, and putting together a few websites,
on the side.
